Kingdom Building December 8, 2014

Recently during one of our church services we sang a song that spoke, albeit indirectly, about shining our lights for God’s kingdom.  It speaks of the darkness fearing.  I thought that a powerful image.  As we endeavour to let our lights shine it is then that we take seriously the label given to us by Jesus Christ. He calls us the light of the world and as we work that out in our lives then the darkness has cause to fear and dare I say tremble.  In the song it also calls for that indwelling of the Spirit to spur us on to let our lights shine, to be set ablaze with His glory.  We pray in the Lord’s Prayer for God’s kingdom to come and for God’s will to be done and that is echoed in the heart of this song.  Be blessed as you read a sampling of Rend Collective’s lyrics from their song “Build Your Kingdom Here”.

Come set our hearts ablaze with hope like wildfire in our very souls.

We are Your church.  We need Your power in us.

We seek Your kingdom first. We hunger and we thirst.

Refuse to waste our lives for You're our joy and prize.

To see the captive hearts released.  The hurt, the sick, the poor at peace.

We lay down our lives for Heaven's cause.

We are Your church. We pray revive this earth.

Build Your kingdom here.  Let the darkness fear.

Show Your mighty hand. Heal our streets and land.

Set Your church on fire. Win this nation back.

Change the atmosphere. Build Your kingdom here.

We pray.

Awake the kingdom seed in us!  Fill us with the strength and love of Christ.

We are Your church. We are the hope on earth.

We pray that as we fulfill the mission of this school that we are equipping our students with the foundation to be the hope on earth.  We also pray that we will also provide the students with tangible opportunities to shine their lights through their learning at PCS. And finally we pray that through all of this that the student’s habits are formed towards imagining the Kingdom as they work to live that out for others.
